Which Path Are You On?

August 6th, 2009

When I look at the current state of health in an individual, I see two different paths people are on.  The first and by far the most common is the path of degeneration, disease and destruction.  The second is the path of health, life and vitality.  The question is which one are YOU on?

Everyday I encounter people that honestly believe the path has been chosen for them and little if anything they can do will change that for them.  I had a 42 year old new patient that from appearance looked to be in pretty good health, however after reading his intake form I was astounded by the number of problems he had.  When I took the time to ask him about his condition, he told me things had just been getting worse over the past few years.  He told me he has been through the proverbial medical ringer and their current diagnosis is that he is just not as young as he used to be.  The worst part about it, he believed them.  I told him that was insane to think that @ 42 the best of your life is over and it has been for at least a couple of years!  I asked him if he was “ok” with that?  He answered, now that you point it out that way, I guess I’m not.  How many times have you had a diagnosis and were given a reason like this?

People everyday are given this kind of news and they feel powerless.  Take someone who is having any type of health complication that they are concerned about then just tell them its their genes, they are just to old or their bodies now need help forever to function better by taking drugs.  I bet if you have ever been diagnosed with something significant you have heard one of these as the reason for your problem.  Someone on this path, if they choose to believe it, will be on the “common” path of health destruction.  People on this path die prematurely and often times end up in nursing homes where they try to keep them comfortable until they die.  If you ask the people in the nursing homes if this was how they envisioned their final years I guarantee they would say NO.  The sad reality is that a few months ago I was reading an article on a good place to invest money over then next 5 years.  It said to invest into long-term care facilities(nursing homes)  because as the baby boomers continue to age and with the declining state of health in our country, demand is going to go through the roof.  Sad isn’t it?

On the other hand, one of the joys in my life is seeing people change their paths.  Seeing people getting empowered to take back their health.  The human spirit is so powerful and when hope is given to it watch out.  People that are shown the path of health, life and vitality very seldom will ever want to go back down the other path.(Why would they?)

Can you imagine a life not dependant on medications?  Can you see yourself having joy filled times  with your family doing the things you love?  Can you see yourself with the energy of a normal 18 year old, being free to do what want without the fear of how bad you are going pay for it tomorrow?  If you can’t see this, let us show it to you!  We have multiple opportunities for you to become familiar with this new transformed vision.

Where is your health at?

July 15th, 2009

Where is your health at currently? If it is not where you want it to be, why? What things in your life are preventing you from regaining health? What is the “CAUSE” of your current situation?

Today we are going to help you learn about your body, how it functions, why and when symptoms appear and finally what is the best way to find out how your body is functioning and healing currently.

Most people admit that our bodies have an innate or inborn healing mechanism inside of it. If you get a scrape on your leg, your body knows what to do to heal it. From a simple scrape to heart disease or cancer, the body knows what to do to heal it. Thousands of times a day your body make changes, fixes problems, destroys cancer cells and heals your injuries.

Now lets talk about our healing system and symptoms. First thing, symptoms are a sign something is wrong in your body and is actually your body performing just the way it is supposed to. So many people view symptoms negatively, although I realize why, they know that it is a sign something is wrong, but the body is acting appropriately to try to fix the problem. We are obsessed in this country with getting rid of symptoms which often times either inhibits our bodies natural healing process and/or makes the problem worse due to side-effects….ie: Tylenol.

Where does all healing come from? You guessed it, your brain and spinal cord. Is it important to eat right, exercise, decrease stress in your life and limit toxic exposure? Of course it is, how ever if you severely damage your spinal chord, does it really matter what you eat? So lets talk about health and finish this conversation on symptoms.

When your are living by the 5 Essentials of Maximized Living: Detoxing the body, restoring proper nervous system function, eating right, exercising (12 minutes/week) and finally maximizing your mind with cutting edge techniques for stress reduction and time management, you are doing everything possible to have our body function at 100%

The life/health cycle of the average American

100%: Living the 5 Essentials.

90%: Body beginning to get unplugged from its life source.

80%: Disease Process is happening.

70%: Breakdown of cells, tissue, organs and organ systems.

60%: Your first symptoms start to show up and most medical

tests will finally start to show positive results. Some

people take action at this point while others will wait to see

if it goes away or they will self treat with over the counter

medications.

50%: Diagnosis occurs from the medical perspective. Treatment of

symptoms begins.

40%: Although symptoms may be getting better, the disease process

continues lowering your health level.

30%: Your treatment side-effects are harming and destroying other cells,

organs and organ systems.

20%: You get checked into the hospital for advanced life saving treatment

or surgery.

10%: Your admitted to a nursing home or some full time care facility.

0%: Is death.

As somber as this graph is, realize that you have a choice at what level you are living. The way we view health in this country is a major contributor to the declining health we see today. We are taught to wait for symptoms to show up and then seek help for the treatment of our symptoms. Even if the treatment “works” and our symptoms decline that has not stopped the disease process from progressing. For example, if you have high blood pressure that is often a sign of cardiovascular disease developing. If you take a medication that lowers your blood pressure artificially the symptom is taken care of but did it “cure” your disease or the cause of that symptom? The answer is no. That’s why heart disease is still the number 1 cause death by a disease in our country. It’s not because we don’t medicate ourselves as in the US we consume 70% of the worlds drugs and yet rank last in most health related categories.

At some point we need to take control of our health and realize the decision you make on a daily basis will determine your future in health and all aspect of your life. The only way to know how your body is functioning and healing is know how your nervous system is functioning. The best way to determine that is by having a computerized nervous system scan along with an x-ray to look at spine structure.

Finding The Solution To Your Health Problem

June 17th, 2009

So many people spend great amounts of time and money dealing with their current health problems.  They do so with little to NO results.  I had a conversation with a colleague this weekend while learning some new cutting edge techniques to further identify the cause of problems for my patients.  This doctor was 70 years old and by the looked and acted like he was maybe 60.  He told me he traveled to this seminar for the primary reason of getting to the bottom of his shoulder problem.  Our instructor is quite possibly the best extremity doctor in the world.  He told me he had not been able to run, play handball or golf they way he likes to for about 8 months.  The pain was even starting to effect how he adjusted his patients.

When I asked him what types of things he had been doing for it, he said he had been stretching and doing rehab techniques but was not having any success.  He decided it was time to solve his problem by truley identifying the problem and finding a solution.  When he was evaluated by the instructor he told him the problem was not in the true shoulder joint but in the scapulae(the shoulder blade).  He evaluated him, did one adjustment and the mechanics of the shoulder were restored.  He could lift his arm over his head and do so with no pain.  8 months of rehab on the shoulder and even adjusting the shoulder with little to no results, then one adjustment to the proper subluxation and we saw restored normal function to the joint.

This was an example of a pain issue that was being misdiagnosed.  Just like most pain and health conditions, people treat the symptoms with a multitude different modalities with no long term results.  Why, because they have not identified the true cause of the problem and therefore have not found a solution to the problem.  If you take blood pressure medication to control your blood pressure, is that fixing your problem?  High blood pressure which can be a sign of heart or other cardiovascular disease is a symptom of a bigger problem.  When you take the medication if things “work” the pressure will drop.  The thing people seem to not understand is that the disease process that was causing the issue continues to progress.  Your cardiovascular disease is getting worse you just are unaware of the symptoms now.

This is true with any medication you are taking.  If you don’t believe me answer this question.  Can you name a drug that is designed to “CURE” your problems?  I will give you partial credit if you say antibiotics but that is still not fully true.  Antibiotics assist the body by weakening the bacteria.  So if none of the drugs cure your problems, that means the disease progresses.  So not only do medications not “fix” any problems, I ask you if you have ever found a drug that doesn’t have a “side effect” or cause additional problems?  The answer is NO!

Just like the shoulder guy above, taking medications to regulate body function is like rehabing and treating the wrong joint for 8 months and wondering why things are not getting better.  You have to find a solution to your problem.  People everyday come into my office complaining of neck or back pain and after starting care with us tell us their heartburn goes away,  menstrual problems are gone, headaches are a thing of the past, fibromyalgia is gone, diabetes is better or depression is better.  By no means is this short list at all inclusive of the number of problems resolved by the body in our office once we identify the cause.

The foundation and principal of chiropractic states that there power that created you from two cells to 2 trillion cells is the same power that maintains you in existence.  That healing power needs no help just no interference.  When you have a subluxation or misaligned vertebrae, this compresses the spinal cord and inteferes with God’s healing power.  An adjustment to remove that interference is the most powerful thing I know.  Releasing that compression and allowing the body to heal and function at 100%, can there be something more powerful?

If you are tired of suffering, not living up to your potential and know there is more to life than taking a bunch of toxic medication just so you can function in your daily life.  If this is you or someone you know we have your answer.  On Saturday the 20th of June from 8-11 am we are holding our father’s day patient appreciation day.  People that are referred into our office on that day will receive their first 3 days in our office for free.  The will get a complete examination on day one, and adjustment on day 2 and a full reports of findings on day 3.  At the end of those 3 days you will know what the cause of your problem is and what your solution is as well.  Look forward to seeing you then.

Would you vote for socialized medicine?

June 11th, 2009

A question that should be on the minds of Americans.  As the President and our law makers discuss the future of healthcare in our country we need to be informed on what this will really mean for us going into the future.

With greater than 60% of all bankruptcies being primarily caused by medical bills, we need to look at changing something.  The even sadder fact is that over 50% of those people were fully covered by health insurance.  The answer unfortunately is not in fixing who pays for your healthcare.

Since we now know that our current healthcare system is the leading cause of death in our country, would it make sense to keep that system the same and then give everyone access to it?  Giving those not having insurance access to a broken healthcare system still doesn’t address the problem that we are the sickest industrialized country in the world.

Do people die everyday because of the lack of health coverage in our country?  I am quite sure they do.  I also know however that many more people die everyday for doing exactly what they are told by this same system because they were fully covered by insurance.

The point of all of this is that covering everyone will fix one of the problems we deal with in healthcare but it won’t even put a dent in the overall improvment of our overall healthcare system.  Just like many people particularly those with political power, we still ignore the giant elephant in the room.

The only way things are going to improve in our country is if we overhaul the entire mindset behind our medical model.  When are you taught to goto the doctor in our country?  When you have a problem, symptom or sign of disease.  We wonder why our country spends $2.4 Trillion on healthcare and its because it is always more expensive to treat a condition than it is to prevent it.  The medical community is rewarded in this country for doing heroic things to save lives.  Would it be in the best financial interest of your cardiologist to teach you what you need to do to not get heart disease or wait a while and put in a few $5,000 stents, that are not clinically proven to do much for you?  Better yet let’s wait to do open heart surgery now we are talking real money.  Studies have been done that prove you can reverse and so obviously prevent heart disease from happening.  Since it is the number cause of death by a disease, it might be a good idea to do more investigation.

If I could try to blame two things for our health crisis in America, it would be that we are taught to go to the doctor when we have symptoms only and the fact that there is no money in it for the doctors if they don’t have sick suffering individuals.  Think about it.  Your town or city has a Maximized Living Doctor on every corner in place of the Walgreens, Rite Aide or any number of other pharmacies that seem to be on every corner in my city.  People were taught the 5 Essential of good health and then we as a community took ownership of these principles.  As we improved our health what would become of the common medical doctor or pharmacy.  You guessed it they would get put out of business.  People in the business of providing true healthcare, not sick care disguised as healthcare, would flourish as our country climbed out of the basement and reached new potentials no one thought possible.

It can happen and will happen with Maximized Living leading the charge.  Our patients are our warriors and they help us in so many ways.  When people see those suffering needlessly, a simple recommendation can completely change their life.  I want to thank all of those that have helped us change our area one person at a time.  We live by a motto of “One More” because everyone can help one more person.  That one more person is someone’s father, mother, sister or brother and they deserve the right to know there is a better way.

So to answer the original question asked, “Would you vote for socialized medicine”, I would say by considering it we are wasting time ignoring the real problem at hand.  For those without health insurance, I am sure they would like it.  To be honest with you, 70% of my patients don’t use insurance in our office because even if they have “health” insurance it doesn’t cover our services.  Even if everyone is covered, if the policies stay they way they are now, they would only pay for disease care as they already do which means nothing changes.  I agree something needs to change but it is not as simple as just providing coverage for everyone.

To show our dedication to changing the health of our country, we are getting rid of any possible reason for someone to come into our office on Saturday, June 20th.  We are holding our patient appreciation day!  On that day anyone being referred to our office will receive their first 3 days in our office for FREE.  You will have all the information you will need to make an informed health decision before you have invested any money into your health.  Call our office ASAP as there is a limited number of appointments available on Saturday mornings.  720-747-5333

What Principal Do You Live By?

April 2nd, 2009

One of the greatest feelings I have is when someone I am talking to has that “AH-HA” moment.  I was talking to a new patient last night when I saw a change in her physiology.  She had been told to come to our office for her daughter that was suffering from chronic earaches.  When I explained how and why chiropractic could help her daughter, she seemed interested.  I then went on to teach her about the principals of health and healing and that is when it happened.  Her eyes lit up as I continued to explain her body was a strong self-healing organism.  I ask patients all the time, “Was your body Created to be a weak suffering body or was it Created to be a thriving healthy body?”

In the commonly accepted current health care model, we are repeatedly told that our bodies are weak.  They tell you your body needs things from the outside such as drugs or surgery.  Now I would never say there is never a time when a drug or surgery is not necessary.  I recently had the unfortunate need to send a patient to a surgeon to have a fusion done in his cervical spine.  There is a concept: limitations of matter.  This states that matter can only withstand so much force before it breaks down.  Falling off the empire state building no matter how much you believe in any principal is going to lead to your demise.  However, stating that, not often does something so tragic ever happen.  Most of the time it is the accumulation of small traumas and problems that are neglected that lead to limitations of matter.

In the example of my patient that had surgery, he had a history of chronic neck problems that would come and go.  Five years before he came to see me he had an extreme pain episode, went to the doctor who gave him medications and referred him to physical therapy.  They taught him some stretches and exercises and over time with the meds and exercises the symptoms went away.  Guess what didn’t go away.  The problem!  His spine continued to degenerate over the next few years to a point of no return.  I worked with him for a few months with modest improvement but no real reduction in the radiating pain.  I referred him to an MD that ordered an MRI and it was discovered that not only did he have disc issues by the bone spurring that was happening, it was physically compressing the spinal cord.  Once I heard this I told him surgery was necessary because I know the danger of compressing the spinal cord.  If we could make changes over time, the amount of permanent damage done would lead to a early death for him.

What we have here is someone that was living by the wrong principal of health.  Not because he was being defiant or slighting anyone, he just didn’t know anything different.  He was living by our modern medical model’s rules and traditions that teach us to live our lives as we want and when things suddenly change for the worse there is a magic pill, potion, lotion or surgery that will fix things.  As I continue to hope and pray for a complete recovery from the surgery, I can only think I wish I would have met him 5 years ago.  We could have avoided this whole thing and he could be enjoying life and being the healthiest he had been in years.

The principal my family and I live by is simple.  Let’s take responsibility for our health.  Every decision I make today impacts my health tomorrow and into the future.  The foundation of our principal starts with my passion to make sure that the innate healing power in our body never has interference.  By regularly adjusting my family I am ensuring that the healing power that created them, from one sperm and one egg, into the persons they are today is living strong and well in them.  People today need to understand that they are where they are today because of the decisions they have made in the past.  Starting right now, you can decide to change your future.  We are holding our Maximized Living Makeover on April 11th.  During this 3 hour class we are going to teach you the principal of chiropractic and the 5 Essentials everyone needs to regain and maintain a long, healthy drug free life.

Whereever your health is today, what is it going to be like 5 years from now, 10 years, 25 years etc.  If you don’t like that picture you need to do something about it.  I GUARANTEE you this, if you come to our makeover and do the things we ask you to do over the next 12 months, your health will be better.  You will be able to see that picture differently of what you want to be when you’re 70.  Do you want to travel and hike, go for walks on the beach, play with your grand kids, golf or explore your creativity?  Whatever your passion and vision looks like it can be yours.  The decision is yours.

Who do you know that needs to hear this principal?  I am willing to bet if you didn’t say everyone you didn’t read this blog and you need to re-read it.  If you want to come to our Makeover and start this new chapter in your life and completely change how the story ends, call our office.  720-747-5333.  As a special for subscribing to our blog, if you bring 5 people with you to our event your admission is free and includes a book and the five people you brought come for free as well. (They can buy a book at the event if they want a resource guide)

We can change the face of health care in this country even if we have to do it one patient at a time.

Be Blessed,

Dr. Tim
