Finding The Solution To Your Health Problem

June 17th, 2009

So many people spend great amounts of time and money dealing with their current health problems.  They do so with little to NO results.  I had a conversation with a colleague this weekend while learning some new cutting edge techniques to further identify the cause of problems for my patients.  This doctor was 70 years old and by the looked and acted like he was maybe 60.  He told me he traveled to this seminar for the primary reason of getting to the bottom of his shoulder problem.  Our instructor is quite possibly the best extremity doctor in the world.  He told me he had not been able to run, play handball or golf they way he likes to for about 8 months.  The pain was even starting to effect how he adjusted his patients.

When I asked him what types of things he had been doing for it, he said he had been stretching and doing rehab techniques but was not having any success.  He decided it was time to solve his problem by truley identifying the problem and finding a solution.  When he was evaluated by the instructor he told him the problem was not in the true shoulder joint but in the scapulae(the shoulder blade).  He evaluated him, did one adjustment and the mechanics of the shoulder were restored.  He could lift his arm over his head and do so with no pain.  8 months of rehab on the shoulder and even adjusting the shoulder with little to no results, then one adjustment to the proper subluxation and we saw restored normal function to the joint.

This was an example of a pain issue that was being misdiagnosed.  Just like most pain and health conditions, people treat the symptoms with a multitude different modalities with no long term results.  Why, because they have not identified the true cause of the problem and therefore have not found a solution to the problem.  If you take blood pressure medication to control your blood pressure, is that fixing your problem?  High blood pressure which can be a sign of heart or other cardiovascular disease is a symptom of a bigger problem.  When you take the medication if things “work” the pressure will drop.  The thing people seem to not understand is that the disease process that was causing the issue continues to progress.  Your cardiovascular disease is getting worse you just are unaware of the symptoms now.

This is true with any medication you are taking.  If you don’t believe me answer this question.  Can you name a drug that is designed to “CURE” your problems?  I will give you partial credit if you say antibiotics but that is still not fully true.  Antibiotics assist the body by weakening the bacteria.  So if none of the drugs cure your problems, that means the disease progresses.  So not only do medications not “fix” any problems, I ask you if you have ever found a drug that doesn’t have a “side effect” or cause additional problems?  The answer is NO!

Just like the shoulder guy above, taking medications to regulate body function is like rehabing and treating the wrong joint for 8 months and wondering why things are not getting better.  You have to find a solution to your problem.  People everyday come into my office complaining of neck or back pain and after starting care with us tell us their heartburn goes away,  menstrual problems are gone, headaches are a thing of the past, fibromyalgia is gone, diabetes is better or depression is better.  By no means is this short list at all inclusive of the number of problems resolved by the body in our office once we identify the cause.

The foundation and principal of chiropractic states that there power that created you from two cells to 2 trillion cells is the same power that maintains you in existence.  That healing power needs no help just no interference.  When you have a subluxation or misaligned vertebrae, this compresses the spinal cord and inteferes with God’s healing power.  An adjustment to remove that interference is the most powerful thing I know.  Releasing that compression and allowing the body to heal and function at 100%, can there be something more powerful?

If you are tired of suffering, not living up to your potential and know there is more to life than taking a bunch of toxic medication just so you can function in your daily life.  If this is you or someone you know we have your answer.  On Saturday the 20th of June from 8-11 am we are holding our father’s day patient appreciation day.  People that are referred into our office on that day will receive their first 3 days in our office for free.  The will get a complete examination on day one, and adjustment on day 2 and a full reports of findings on day 3.  At the end of those 3 days you will know what the cause of your problem is and what your solution is as well.  Look forward to seeing you then.

Be Well,

What does it take to regain and maintain health?

June 2nd, 2009

I recently had two conversations about regaining and  then maintaining health into the future.  The first was a person not yet a patient of ours that has been suffering needlessly over the past 10-15 years with multiple “medical conditions”.  The second was a retired couple that is beginning their 3rd year of care under the Maximized Living Model.  The biggest difference between the conversations was the confidence and certainty  the retired couple had that they were doing the right thing and feeling better as they are getting older.

The first conversation was with a middle aged female that we will call Sue.  Sue had been battling with multiple problems since she was a teenager.  The number of problems and their severity have increasing over the past 15 or so years.  When I asked her was she was currently doing to help herself, she told me she was seeing 5 specialists currently and taking 14 Rx medications.  One specialist was for her female disorders that included endometriosis, PMS and multiple difficulties with pregnancies.  This doctor had her on 3 medications to help her regulate her cycle and decrease symptoms.  She was also seeing a pain specialist for what she states is an ever changing diagnosis.  She was told she had fibromyalgia, then MS and now chronic fatigue complicated with fibromyalgia.  She had received multiple pain injections over the past few years along with multiple daily medications to help her deal with pain and fatigue.  All of these medications and specialists and still no answers.  She stated a few years ago she was sent to a mental health specialist for evaluation because  a few of her doctors were starting to wonder if the “pain was in her head”.  She was evaluated and told she was moderately depressed and given Paxil for treatment.  After about 2 months she reports having a follow-up appointment where she was told her depression was not responding to treatment so they added a second medication.  About 1 month later she reports she was under a lot of stress and she had an manic episode and felt tremendous anger towards a co-worker that she remembers got her in trouble with her boss.  So the next visit to her doctor included the addition of bipolar drug.  She told me she felt her life was totally out of control at this point.  She felt mentally unstable, had thoughts of suicide and still had the pain she was originally being treated for.   Suewas  feeling lost and hopeless.  She has not been given any reason to feel differently.  When your only option is more medication and that already hasn’t been working, where is the hope in that?  I hope and pray that she will come into our office to find out what we could do to help her.

On the other hand, my retired couple met with me to discuss recommendations for continuing care in our office.  First I want to say what a delight it is to have these people as part of our chiropractic family.  We started our conversation with me asking them how things have been going.  A question you would not typically want to ask a couple in their early 70’s, unless you had lots of time and wanted to here how terrible things are going.  To my delight the conversation started with how they used to have some pains and problems that limited them in numerous way.  Now these problems are a thing of the past.  They are more active than they were 5 years ago, have less health issues holding them back from truly enjoying life.  The have done a good job of plugging into the 5 essentials of Maximized Living we teach in our office.  Admittedly they told me they can do better than they are but are already getting great results.

So which life do you want?  The much younger lady has lost hope, deals with daily pain and has been told things such as “its in your your head” to “you will just have to learn to live with it.”  Nobody has to learn to live with it.  That would be one of the worst things someone could say.  You always have a choice to do something different.  You need to realize that when you empower yourself and take control of your health, things change.  You are the one that is responsible, not your doctor.  Doctor means teacher, to help teach people what they need to do to be healthy.  I take that definition literally.  I want to teach and lead each of my patients to better health through Maximized Living.

The choice is yours!  We are waiting with open arms to show people a better way.  The questions is, are you ready to make a commitment to your health and improve your life?

Be well,

Dr. Tim
