Removing The Interference

June 23rd, 2009

When people are experiencing different health related problems they will often go to the doctor looking for answers and treatment options for their condition.  People often forget where health comes from which makes the solutions they are looking for wrong.  If you get a headache, take Advil and it goes away, did you treat the system or the cause.  That’s right the symptom.  I guarentee the “cause” of your headache was not the lack of Advil in your body.  So how do you treat the cause?

A statement I have mentioned before comes to mind.  There is one cause of disease in the body, the interference of your God given ability to heal.  Every person has the ability inside of them to heal from any and all disease processes.  So we treat the “cause” of your problem by removing the interference.  Sounds simple enough, right?  It is.  Identify the interference, remove it and watch in amazement as your body heals your cancer, heart disease, diabetes or what ever disease you are suffering from.

At our office and all Maximized Living Offices we teach our patients about the 5 Essentials of good health.  Removing interference in these areas of your life will help ensure you are living upto your God given potential.

Essential #1:  Toxicity is all around us.  We breathe the air in our cities, drink the water, eat commerically grown food, ingest Rx and over the counter drugs, inject vaccines and medications into our bodies which bypasses our inborn detoxification systems and we wonder why we are toxic.  Remove the interference, in this case toxicity, and watch the body heal and function better.  We have to minimize the source of toxicity in our bodies but also need to recognize the need to detoxify our burdened bodies.

Essential #2:  Spinal chord and nervous system compression.  What happend to your heart if I cut the nerve supply going to it?  It ceases to function and you would die.  Understanding this, do you think it would be a good idea then put pressure on those same nerves going to your heart?  I hope you said no!  Performing adjustments, removing the compression and interference of nervous system function is the most life changing event that can  happen to someone.  I know that every time I remove a subluxation that body is healing and functioning better than it was just seconds earlier.  Remove the physical interference of a subluxation with an adjustment and watch the glory of God live in your body.

Essential #3:  Maximized Nutrients.  Most people know that eating fresh, unprocessed whole foods is better for you than your favorite fastfood establishment.  What people don’t know is just how much your food choices effect your health.  Imagine a cell that has been damaged and it needs certain nutrients to repair itself.  Would you like those nutrients to come from a McDonald’s chicken nuggent or fresh raw vegtables?  Now think about our children.  They are building, growing, developing and repairing their bodies at a very fast pace.  I want my children to build their bodies and cells with the best possible nutrients available.  This will help us ensure strong disease resistant cells.  We have to remove the interference in our diets to help our health and to function optimally.

Essential #4:  Maximized exercise and oxygenation.  We were designed to move!  With exercise and movement, we help with increasing blood supply to our tissues.  Our tissues need high levels of oxygen, nutrients along with the ability to rid itself of waste products.  Exercise helps make all of these things happen.  If you think you don’t have the time to do purposeful exercise than you need to log onto my other website:  www.maximizedlivingdrcummins.com and click on the 12 minute revolution icon.  If you can exercise 12 minutes per week, I can show you success.  We need to remove the interference of a sedentary lifestyle.

Essential #5:  Maximized mind and peace management.  Your thoughts, actions and intentions have a tremendous effect on your health.  Welcome to 2009 in the USA.  Two jobs or no jobs, soccer, t-ball, dance class, school, daycare, appointments, shopping all need to be done every week.  Most people take it as it comes and live in a heavily stressed out world.  High stress=decreased health.  There is not enough time to get it all done which leads to you not taking the time to remove the interference out of the other 4 areas we discussed earlier.  Now compound that with the damaging effects stress has on your health by itself and you have just found out why we live in the sickest, most depressed country in the world.

You see whether your are talking about removing the interference in the spine, a traditional way discussed in chiropractic or the other 4 essentials, without getting rid of the interference you are limiting your bodies God given ability to heal.  God doesn’t need help to heal us, he just needs no inteference!

We are holding our  next Maximized Living Makeover on August 8th.  We will be covering how to remove the interference from all areas of your life.  I recommend that you call our office and reserve your seat right away.  All those interested in making a change for the better can also join our 6 week makeover challenge and wind some great prizes.  Call 720-747-5333 for more information.

Finding The Solution To Your Health Problem

June 17th, 2009

So many people spend great amounts of time and money dealing with their current health problems.  They do so with little to NO results.  I had a conversation with a colleague this weekend while learning some new cutting edge techniques to further identify the cause of problems for my patients.  This doctor was 70 years old and by the looked and acted like he was maybe 60.  He told me he traveled to this seminar for the primary reason of getting to the bottom of his shoulder problem.  Our instructor is quite possibly the best extremity doctor in the world.  He told me he had not been able to run, play handball or golf they way he likes to for about 8 months.  The pain was even starting to effect how he adjusted his patients.

When I asked him what types of things he had been doing for it, he said he had been stretching and doing rehab techniques but was not having any success.  He decided it was time to solve his problem by truley identifying the problem and finding a solution.  When he was evaluated by the instructor he told him the problem was not in the true shoulder joint but in the scapulae(the shoulder blade).  He evaluated him, did one adjustment and the mechanics of the shoulder were restored.  He could lift his arm over his head and do so with no pain.  8 months of rehab on the shoulder and even adjusting the shoulder with little to no results, then one adjustment to the proper subluxation and we saw restored normal function to the joint.

This was an example of a pain issue that was being misdiagnosed.  Just like most pain and health conditions, people treat the symptoms with a multitude different modalities with no long term results.  Why, because they have not identified the true cause of the problem and therefore have not found a solution to the problem.  If you take blood pressure medication to control your blood pressure, is that fixing your problem?  High blood pressure which can be a sign of heart or other cardiovascular disease is a symptom of a bigger problem.  When you take the medication if things “work” the pressure will drop.  The thing people seem to not understand is that the disease process that was causing the issue continues to progress.  Your cardiovascular disease is getting worse you just are unaware of the symptoms now.

This is true with any medication you are taking.  If you don’t believe me answer this question.  Can you name a drug that is designed to “CURE” your problems?  I will give you partial credit if you say antibiotics but that is still not fully true.  Antibiotics assist the body by weakening the bacteria.  So if none of the drugs cure your problems, that means the disease progresses.  So not only do medications not “fix” any problems, I ask you if you have ever found a drug that doesn’t have a “side effect” or cause additional problems?  The answer is NO!

Just like the shoulder guy above, taking medications to regulate body function is like rehabing and treating the wrong joint for 8 months and wondering why things are not getting better.  You have to find a solution to your problem.  People everyday come into my office complaining of neck or back pain and after starting care with us tell us their heartburn goes away,  menstrual problems are gone, headaches are a thing of the past, fibromyalgia is gone, diabetes is better or depression is better.  By no means is this short list at all inclusive of the number of problems resolved by the body in our office once we identify the cause.

The foundation and principal of chiropractic states that there power that created you from two cells to 2 trillion cells is the same power that maintains you in existence.  That healing power needs no help just no interference.  When you have a subluxation or misaligned vertebrae, this compresses the spinal cord and inteferes with God’s healing power.  An adjustment to remove that interference is the most powerful thing I know.  Releasing that compression and allowing the body to heal and function at 100%, can there be something more powerful?

If you are tired of suffering, not living up to your potential and know there is more to life than taking a bunch of toxic medication just so you can function in your daily life.  If this is you or someone you know we have your answer.  On Saturday the 20th of June from 8-11 am we are holding our father’s day patient appreciation day.  People that are referred into our office on that day will receive their first 3 days in our office for free.  The will get a complete examination on day one, and adjustment on day 2 and a full reports of findings on day 3.  At the end of those 3 days you will know what the cause of your problem is and what your solution is as well.  Look forward to seeing you then.

Be Well,

Would you vote for socialized medicine?

June 11th, 2009

A question that should be on the minds of Americans.  As the President and our law makers discuss the future of healthcare in our country we need to be informed on what this will really mean for us going into the future.

With greater than 60% of all bankruptcies being primarily caused by medical bills, we need to look at changing something.  The even sadder fact is that over 50% of those people were fully covered by health insurance.  The answer unfortunately is not in fixing who pays for your healthcare.

Since we now know that our current healthcare system is the leading cause of death in our country, would it make sense to keep that system the same and then give everyone access to it?  Giving those not having insurance access to a broken healthcare system still doesn’t address the problem that we are the sickest industrialized country in the world.

Do people die everyday because of the lack of health coverage in our country?  I am quite sure they do.  I also know however that many more people die everyday for doing exactly what they are told by this same system because they were fully covered by insurance.

The point of all of this is that covering everyone will fix one of the problems we deal with in healthcare but it won’t even put a dent in the overall improvment of our overall healthcare system.  Just like many people particularly those with political power, we still ignore the giant elephant in the room.

The only way things are going to improve in our country is if we overhaul the entire mindset behind our medical model.  When are you taught to goto the doctor in our country?  When you have a problem, symptom or sign of disease.  We wonder why our country spends $2.4 Trillion on healthcare and its because it is always more expensive to treat a condition than it is to prevent it.  The medical community is rewarded in this country for doing heroic things to save lives.  Would it be in the best financial interest of your cardiologist to teach you what you need to do to not get heart disease or wait a while and put in a few $5,000 stents, that are not clinically proven to do much for you?  Better yet let’s wait to do open heart surgery now we are talking real money.  Studies have been done that prove you can reverse and so obviously prevent heart disease from happening.  Since it is the number cause of death by a disease, it might be a good idea to do more investigation.

If I could try to blame two things for our health crisis in America, it would be that we are taught to go to the doctor when we have symptoms only and the fact that there is no money in it for the doctors if they don’t have sick suffering individuals.  Think about it.  Your town or city has a Maximized Living Doctor on every corner in place of the Walgreens, Rite Aide or any number of other pharmacies that seem to be on every corner in my city.  People were taught the 5 Essential of good health and then we as a community took ownership of these principles.  As we improved our health what would become of the common medical doctor or pharmacy.  You guessed it they would get put out of business.  People in the business of providing true healthcare, not sick care disguised as healthcare, would flourish as our country climbed out of the basement and reached new potentials no one thought possible.

It can happen and will happen with Maximized Living leading the charge.  Our patients are our warriors and they help us in so many ways.  When people see those suffering needlessly, a simple recommendation can completely change their life.  I want to thank all of those that have helped us change our area one person at a time.  We live by a motto of “One More” because everyone can help one more person.  That one more person is someone’s father, mother, sister or brother and they deserve the right to know there is a better way.

So to answer the original question asked, “Would you vote for socialized medicine”, I would say by considering it we are wasting time ignoring the real problem at hand.  For those without health insurance, I am sure they would like it.  To be honest with you, 70% of my patients don’t use insurance in our office because even if they have “health” insurance it doesn’t cover our services.  Even if everyone is covered, if the policies stay they way they are now, they would only pay for disease care as they already do which means nothing changes.  I agree something needs to change but it is not as simple as just providing coverage for everyone.

To show our dedication to changing the health of our country, we are getting rid of any possible reason for someone to come into our office on Saturday, June 20th.  We are holding our patient appreciation day!  On that day anyone being referred to our office will receive their first 3 days in our office for FREE.  You will have all the information you will need to make an informed health decision before you have invested any money into your health.  Call our office ASAP as there is a limited number of appointments available on Saturday mornings.  720-747-5333

What does it take to regain and maintain health?

June 2nd, 2009

I recently had two conversations about regaining and  then maintaining health into the future.  The first was a person not yet a patient of ours that has been suffering needlessly over the past 10-15 years with multiple “medical conditions”.  The second was a retired couple that is beginning their 3rd year of care under the Maximized Living Model.  The biggest difference between the conversations was the confidence and certainty  the retired couple had that they were doing the right thing and feeling better as they are getting older.

The first conversation was with a middle aged female that we will call Sue.  Sue had been battling with multiple problems since she was a teenager.  The number of problems and their severity have increasing over the past 15 or so years.  When I asked her was she was currently doing to help herself, she told me she was seeing 5 specialists currently and taking 14 Rx medications.  One specialist was for her female disorders that included endometriosis, PMS and multiple difficulties with pregnancies.  This doctor had her on 3 medications to help her regulate her cycle and decrease symptoms.  She was also seeing a pain specialist for what she states is an ever changing diagnosis.  She was told she had fibromyalgia, then MS and now chronic fatigue complicated with fibromyalgia.  She had received multiple pain injections over the past few years along with multiple daily medications to help her deal with pain and fatigue.  All of these medications and specialists and still no answers.  She stated a few years ago she was sent to a mental health specialist for evaluation because  a few of her doctors were starting to wonder if the “pain was in her head”.  She was evaluated and told she was moderately depressed and given Paxil for treatment.  After about 2 months she reports having a follow-up appointment where she was told her depression was not responding to treatment so they added a second medication.  About 1 month later she reports she was under a lot of stress and she had an manic episode and felt tremendous anger towards a co-worker that she remembers got her in trouble with her boss.  So the next visit to her doctor included the addition of bipolar drug.  She told me she felt her life was totally out of control at this point.  She felt mentally unstable, had thoughts of suicide and still had the pain she was originally being treated for.   Suewas  feeling lost and hopeless.  She has not been given any reason to feel differently.  When your only option is more medication and that already hasn’t been working, where is the hope in that?  I hope and pray that she will come into our office to find out what we could do to help her.

On the other hand, my retired couple met with me to discuss recommendations for continuing care in our office.  First I want to say what a delight it is to have these people as part of our chiropractic family.  We started our conversation with me asking them how things have been going.  A question you would not typically want to ask a couple in their early 70’s, unless you had lots of time and wanted to here how terrible things are going.  To my delight the conversation started with how they used to have some pains and problems that limited them in numerous way.  Now these problems are a thing of the past.  They are more active than they were 5 years ago, have less health issues holding them back from truly enjoying life.  The have done a good job of plugging into the 5 essentials of Maximized Living we teach in our office.  Admittedly they told me they can do better than they are but are already getting great results.

So which life do you want?  The much younger lady has lost hope, deals with daily pain and has been told things such as “its in your your head” to “you will just have to learn to live with it.”  Nobody has to learn to live with it.  That would be one of the worst things someone could say.  You always have a choice to do something different.  You need to realize that when you empower yourself and take control of your health, things change.  You are the one that is responsible, not your doctor.  Doctor means teacher, to help teach people what they need to do to be healthy.  I take that definition literally.  I want to teach and lead each of my patients to better health through Maximized Living.

The choice is yours!  We are waiting with open arms to show people a better way.  The questions is, are you ready to make a commitment to your health and improve your life?

Be well,

Dr. Tim
